I have loved being your President this past year, and I am proud of the work we’ve achieved together. From lobbying the university to fix the rugby lights to supporting clubs & societies and feedbacking your views to the university. But I’m not done yet – there’s so much more we can accomplish.
If re-elected, I will continue to build on the progress we’ve made and ensure that the voices of every student are heard. Here are a few key areas I will focus on:
Over the past year, I’ve worked hard to ensure that the student union is a platform for positive change. We’ve seen tangible improvements in areas like student representation where I have been working with your department reps to bring your feedback to executive members of the university and hold the accountable for their promises. I believe in providing opportunities for every student to thrive and will work to have more inclusive social events for all such as the movie nights and listening to your requests. But there is still work to be done, and I want to keep pushing forward, not just getting stuck where we are.
There are several important projects are already in progress – change in some policies, delivering on our priorities for the year such as working with our security to improve your experiences in our venues and working with the student services and estates team to investigate and address all accommodation concerns. I am committed to seeing these through to completion and ensuring they deliver lasting, meaningful impact for all students.
Let’s keep the momentum going and make our union stronger for the future. I ask for your trust and your vote so that we can continue to build a campus where every student is empowered to thrive.
